1869 deed book AA page 17 Putnam County Thomas D. Stone to my father William P. Stone 197 acres in District 1 by David Bradford, John T. Hawes, John Carr, Lewis Gentry and Silas Gentry. Dated 15 June 1869 Wit: T.P. McClain and R.L. Gentry 1873 deed book AA page 253 Putnam County Thomas D. Stone bought a copper still from William Perdue for $67. Dated 15 Sept 1873 6 July 1875 Vol. B page 702 Thomas D. Stone deeded to his children: one black horse 6 years old, one wagon, all my notes, all my household and kitchen furniture, one pair of scales fairbanks, all my carpentry and other tools, my mortgages, and all my corn growing on my farm. 1876 A deed in which he leased out his mineral rights showed that on 21 Dec 1876 he was living in District 16 adjacent to David Bradford on his east property line, S. M. McCaleb on his south property line, Silas Gentry on his west property line, and his father William P. Stone was to his north. 5 Jan 1878 deed book I page 461 Thomas D. Stone gave fifty acres from William P. Stone to my children lands in district 16 named children Joseph Whitfield M. Stone, Elihu Whitney Stone, Dillard Bloomfield Stone, Olive Ann Stone, George Washington Stone, lands adjacent Minerva E. Stone, S.W. McCaleb, David Bradford. Dated 5 Jan 1878. Wit: J.B. S. Martin and W.L. Mayers 1878 Deed Book B page 702. Thomas D. Stone had earlier on 5 Jan 1878 conveyed 50 acres to his children. This land was originally owned by his father William P. Stone and was located in Civil District No. 16. Adjacent property owners were Minerva S. Stone his wife, S.M. McCaleb, and David Bradford. 1899 Thomas D. Stone died in Repton, Crittenden, KY and is buried in the cemetery there. 1927 both his first wife and second wife day in this year. Mary Stone first in February and Minerva in May. Minerva E. Stone’s will probateed 24 May 1927. She listed her heirs as W.B. Gentry, Fannie Bray, Olive Sparks, E. W. Stone, J.W. Stone, G.W. Stone and D.B. Harris born 12 Apr 1872 Putnam County, Tennessee Died: October 1963 Nashville, Tennessee buried Odd Fellows Cemetery, Baxter Four children. Double Springs Cemetery Minister of the Gospel. o Dillard Bloomfield Stone born 14 Sep 1873 Putnam Co., TN Gravestone says 26 Jun 1873, died 9 Aug 1942 Checotah,, McIntosh County, Oklahoma, married Grayson TX circa 1903 Esther Mary (unknown) born 7 Aug 1884 died 27 Jul 1967 McIntosh County, Oklahoma Both buried in Greenlawn Cemetery - Section 8 1910 Lived in Grayson County TX as a general farmer. 1918 Draft Registration lived at Van Alystine, Grayson, TX as a farmer. By 1920 he bought a farm in Beck McIntosh, Oklahoma and was living there with his wife and four sons. In 1930 he, his wife Esther, and two youngest sons are still living in McIntosh County, OK. Son Maurice was a soldier stationed in Laredo TX o Olive Ann “Ollie” Stone born February 1875, Putnam Co., TN died March 1950 buried at Crest Lawn Cemetery married circa 1889 Henry Augustus Franklin Sparks born 1870 died March 1959 Putnam County Tennessee son of William Sparks and Rachel Lee. 1900 Census living in Putnam County. 1900 Mother of 3 living children In 1920 she is shown with a daughter she had when she was about 39. Sparks was a house carpenter. She married at age 13. In 1930 family was living at 508 Laurel Street in Cookeville where they rented a house for $15 a month and he was employed as a building carpenter. o George Washington “Washy” Stone born 5 Mar 1877 Putnam Co., TN died before 1922 married 9 December 1899 – Della “Deller” Jones born January 1882 He lived near Peeled Chestnut, TN. They had five children. WWI draft registration says he lived Rt.2 Cookeville, brown eyes and dark hair. o Edward Daniel Stone born 26 October1884 Repton, Crittenden, KY died 29 July 1941 County Attorney for Crittenden KY Never married. 1910 working for his mother of family farm near Marion, KY In 1918 he said he was a farmer and Minister of the Gospel, self employed living with his mother Mary M. Stone at Rt. 5 Marion, KY, Blue eyes and dark hair. 1920 Census living on farm on Repton Road, Marion TN with his mother and brother William. They were farmers and singlemen. They had a 19 year old girl living with the family as a domestic servant. 1930 living with brother Virgil Stone as an unmarried lawyer. o Rev. Frederick Duke Stone b. 26 October 1884 Marion, Crittenden, KY died Feb 1970 Trenton, Gibson, TN married circa 1916 Gertrude D Franklin born June 1898 Missouri daughter of Lawson and Elizabeth Franklin. 1910 Census he was a teacher in the common school. He was a Baptist Minister of the Gospel in Union in 1918. He was married and lived at Rt 5 in Marion KY. Gray eyes and brown hair. 1930 living in St. Louis Missouri as a church minister with wife and a niece named Hallie Fox who was working as a clerk in a hardware store. They lived a 3843 Bussell Avenue in an apartment building renting an apartment for $42.50. The census said they owned a radio. o Vernon Clyde Stone born 2 March 1886 Marion, Crittenden, KY died 2 Nov 1933 Death Place: Carter KY during depression. 1910 working for his mother of family farm near Marion, KY In 1918 was a farm laborer for John Gjevold Nome, Barnes ND. He gave Mary Stone of Rt. 5 Crittenden County as his mother. Dark blue eyes and dark brown hair. o Virgil Laymen Stone born 26 March 1887 Marion, Crittenden, KY died 30 August 1947 Winlow Park, Crittenden, KY committed suicide. Buried at Repton married Mamye “Mamie” Eleanore Glasgow . He was a carpenter. 1920 He and wife “May” living next to his brothers and mother on Repton Road. He was a Minister of the Gospel. 1930 US Census of Marion, Crittenden, KY he is married to “Elma” she said she was married at age 21 (1912) He said he was first married at age 23 (1910). He was a machine mechanic and his two brothers Edward and William were living with the family as single men, Edward was a lawyer and William was a farmer. They were all living on the family farm. Virgil has three children in his household. Family did not have a radio probably no electricity. He had at least 3 children o Robert Stone born May 1888 Marion, Crittenden, KY died 6 October 1899 Marion, Crittenden, KY o Myrtle E Stone born August 1892 Marion, Crittenden, KY died July 1, 1966 She is located in the 1910 census as a 16 year old girl. She is not listed in her mother’s household afterwards and the other Myrtles in the county of her same age are different women according to KY marriage records. o William Denton Stone born 4 April 1895 Repton, Crittenden, KY died 27 September 1968 Boonville, Warrick, Indiana. Married Oral (unknown) born 28 Feb 1911 died 20 Nov 1998 Boonville, Warrick, Indiana. In 1918 said he was farming for himself and supporting his mother Mary.
