18And when Jesus saw great multitudes about Him, He gave a command - TopicsExpress

18And when Jesus saw great multitudes about Him, He gave a command to depart to the other side. 19Then a certain scribe came and said to Him, Teacher, I will follow You wherever You go. 20And Jesus said to him, Foxes have holes and birds of the air have nests, but the Son of Man has nowhere to lay His head. [Matthew 8] Jesus was not telling this potential disciple [a seeker] He was homeless for He had a home, and had other homes where He was welcome to lay His head and find rest. Jesus was revealing that to follow Him meant you cannot depend on natural places or natural people to give you rest. Rest is a byproduct of complete submission and obedience to God! Following Christ creates uncomfortableness in the natural! He leads us where we would not normally go on our own. He gave a command to depart to the other side. People who live out of the natural realm dont like to be commanded to do anything, much less something that will make them uncomfortable. The other side may simply be somewhere you have never been, never thought of, or beyond your scope of understanding. It can mean to go farther than you are willing to go. Not to go reveals you are not submitted to the Lordship of Jesus. Seekerism is a contemporary idealism that many are proud to be a part of, but to be a disciple of Jesus you must depart being a seeker and fully commit to follow Jesus, no matter where He leads or what He says. There are whole church cultures and communities of Christians that love to be called seeker. For many this is pseudo spirituality that will never lead to a sanctified life. It cant! One cannot be sanctified until they stop seeking and start submitting! Merry Christmas! More wisdom for more revelation! Ephesians 1:17
