18th Sunday in the Liturgical Year: Celebrate the 10:45am Mass at St. Mary Church in Tampico. 6:30pm - Sterling Deanery Welcome Party for two new Pastors in our Deanery. Some of my FB friends say that they cannot find or open RONS MESSAGE FROM THE OTHER DAY. I am reprinting it HERE! On July 31st, Ron posted the following. I was told by the oncologist this week that my liver is failing and the cancer is winning. I have had a difficult time for about three weeks with dehydration, which makes me weak and very light headed. I am SO thankful that we got together with Bruce and Meredith [Rons brother in law & his wife] last week. I have been missing the chance to say hi for awhile now. I can feel my body unwinding like a broken spring now. Energy gone. I guess this is why the ancient peoples would let their elders decide when it was time to let yourself go. Thank you, God, for giving me 65 plus years of health and great people around me for most of that time! My plea is for a peaceful death surrounded by as many of the people I love as possible. There you have it as Ron wrote it! When I spoke with Ron on Saturday, he had finished his hydration IV for the day and felt a little less weak and shaky; that is a good thing of course. Ron expects to take his next chemo treatment this Tuesday. PLEASE KEEP HIM & HIS FAMILY IN YOUR PRAYERS! Thanks! I have had the chance to visit with Ron two times this past week & intend to visit him as often as I can in the time to come. Some of you wanted to write to him....if you send me a private message, I will get the address for you. He loves to hear from people and I know he loves to get your prayers too. So here we are in August and school kids have to be seeing the BACK TO SCHOOL signs in the stores...has to be a downer in some ways! I know how much I enjoyed my summer vacations back in the day. I suspect that we all have a favorite summer memory from those grade school days.....and it ALWAYS GOT SO HOT after we went back to school. No AC back then and usually not a fan in the building! In our grade school there were NO screens either so the flies would come in and out as they pleased. Some of us managed to catch one here and there and then some kids would execute them in their inkwells, much to the dismay of the Sisters who taught us. Dont remember inkwells?????? How sad!! Those doggone ballpoint pens eventually eliminated inkwells and much more! And now with Smartboards in classrooms, no one has the thrill to clap the erasers after school any more. How some of us fought for that job! Only trusted students were allowed to do that. And so it went....
