Details: Early Warning Network: ewn.au/ QLD Severe Thunderstorm Warning: Large Hail, Heavy Rain, Destructive Winds For people in parts of the Gulf Country, Northern Tropical Coast and Tablelands, Northwest, Central Highlands and Coalfields, Capricornia, Wide Bay and Burnett and Southeast Coast Forecast Districts. Issued at 7:30 pm Sunday, 25 January 2015. Severe thunderstorms are likely to produce destructive winds over the next several hours in parts of the Northern Tropical Coast and Tablelands district. Locations which may be affected include Cairns, Innisfail, Mareeba, Atherton, Ravenshoe and Babinda. Severe thunderstorms are likely to produce damaging winds and heavy rainfall that may lead to flash flooding over the next several hours in parts of the Gulf Country, Northwest, Central Highlands and Coalfields, Capricornia and Wide Bay and Burnett districts. Locations which may be affected include Cloncurry, Bundaberg, Gladstone, Emerald, Clermont and Blackwater. Severe thunderstorms are likely to produce damaging winds, heavy rainfall that may lead to flash flooding and large hailstones over the next several hours in parts of the Southeast Coast district. Locations which may be affected include Gold Coast and Coolangatta. A wind gust of 85 km/h was recorded earlier at Cloncurry. A wind gust of 94 km/h was recorded earlier at Casino in New South Wales. Destructive wind gusts have been reported from between Malanda and Atherton. Queensland Fire and Emergency Services advises that people should: * Move your car under cover or away from trees. * Secure loose outdoor items. * Avoid driving, walking or riding through flood waters. * Seek shelter, preferably indoors and never under trees. * Avoid using the telephone during a thunderstorm. * Beware of fallen trees and powerlines. * For emergency assistance contact the SES on 132 500.
