19 Atlas Pegasus cymbal. Atlas was one of the many products of the reign of UFIP cymbals in 1970s Italy. UFIP is an amalgamation of several Italian companies, born in the interest of combining several operations to reach one common goal, as opposed to leaving those operations to battle frivolously in the same search. With this empire built, the company began producing cymbals for many different companies, all representing the same ideals, and all exemplifying the same quality. The Pegasus line of the Atlas name combines some unusual features. The line was made from B8 alloy, but was hammered on top, and lathed in a sparse and shallow manner on bottom. Because of this, the tonal qualities of the B8 alloy are allowed to shine, where most B8 cymbals are crafted such that the character is masked. This cymbal has a very bright and dense tonality, and has a shimmer unlike any cymbal Ive heard. The logos are still intact, and the cymbal has developed a beautiful patina.
