19 December 1982 - ANC attacks Koeberg nuclear power station | sahistory.org.za/dated-event/anc-attacks-koeberg-nuclear-power-station-0 In a well-planned attack on the Koeberg Nuclear Power Station in Cape Town, Umkhonto we Sizwe (MK) causes heavy damage with no injuries, reported. MK, translated as the Spear of the Nation, is the military wing of the African National Congress (ANC). It claims to have sabotaged the multi-million dollar Koeberg plant, Africas only Reactor plant, currently commemorating its 21st anniversary, to dispel all enemy allegations that the ANC and MK existed in neighbouring countries only. It also saluted all fallen heroes and imprisoned comrades, including those that were buried as a result of the Maseru massacre, following a raid by the South African Defence Force (SADF), and it once more warned foreign investors of what was to become of their investments in apartheid South Africa.
