(in just 4 weeks) Total = P 703 654.58 /US$ 73143.29/ £48270.98 Please allow me to acknowledge receipt of an enormous and generous donation of P100 000 from BOPEU, which is included in the totals along with funds from various events and donations from individuals and organization. It is important to make you aware that the above sums are only for money received. We are still expecting funds from some of the recent events and pledges, to be deposited throughout the week including P50 000 raised by Team-Abbie-London. A few more events are already scheduled and we will update about them. We started this appeal in desperation to raise funds for a potentially lifesaving treatment for Abbie. And the focus was placed on reaching the US$50 000, which was an estimated figure by the specialist hospital in China based on Abbie’s condition then. Abbie’s condition is progressive and there is a likelihood that her tumors have grown since. It is extremely important that we make you aware that the amount required to get Abbie well could change depending on how well she responds to the treatment. She may incur more expenses for intensive care while in China and she will without a doubt require funds for aftercare. Her mother who has had to quit her job to care for her will also need our financial support too. We have committed ourselves to helping this family, so please let us continue to do so. There is an old samurai saying, When the battle is over, tighten your chin strap”. In Abbie’s case the battle is far from over, however a massive milestone has been reached and it is certainly worth a celebration. But the fundraising must continue, just in case the need for more funds arises. Her travel arrangements are now underway and we will keep you posted with all important details. At this stage, saying thank you to you all, feels somehow too inferior an expression of gratitude, but from Abbie & family and the fundraising team RE A LEBOGA!
