19 July 2013 – Current Affairs . 1) The Supreme Court on 18 July 2013 rejected the one- nation-one-test proposal for medical admissions proposed by previous Human Resource Development Minister Kapil Sibal and held the all-India common entrance test for medical admissions as illegal and unconstitutional. What was the name of this all-India medical entrance test? – National Eligibility Entrance Test – NEET (In a 2-1 split verdict on the validity of NEET, a bench led by Chief Justice Altamas Kabir said that the Medical Council of India (MCI) and the Dental Council of India lacked legal authority to conduct admissions to MBBS, BDS and post-graduate courses. The court also said that NEET interfered with the rights of private, minority and linguistic institutions to admit students. However, the decision will not affect the students who have already taken admission by qualifying NEET 2013)
