19 years ago I was at Parkview in Fort Wayne getting ready to have another baby. Little did I know how much that 8 lbs 5 oz person would change my world. Most babies come into the world crying and screaming their heads off. Not this one. The doctor lifted her up and this creature looked at me and her eyes bore straight into my soul. Then just like in the Grinch Who Stole Christmas when he figures out how he is going to stop Christmas and that sly evil grin slowly unfurls across his face, that same smile came across her face like Your screwed cause Im out now. The nurse said to the doctor that the baby didnt cry so he gave her a swat and she went Wah and that was it. Loving and parenting her has been different than loving and parenting Dawn and I think its because she came into this world determined to live her life on her terms and her way even if that made it more difficult. She once was this little girl who told me that we didnt need another baby cause she was my baby. Now she has become this fiercely independent, complicated, stubborn, head strong and beautiful young woman. Our relationship has never been an easy or smooth one. Heck most of the time its been extremely difficult. We love each other but our ideas, opinions and personalities clash like fire and ice but the love is always there and will never change. Happy 19th Birthday Kaitlyn Elilizabeth Enfield. You will always be one of the best things that ever happened to me and I will die defending you and your right to be you.
