1911 discussions on both the Orleans-Kenner interurban line and the Metairie Ridge Loop streetcar line. It was envisioned that the Metairie Ridge Streetcar line would connect to the Orleans-Kenner line by heading South on Shrewsbury Road and linking up to it right next to the Jefferson Park Racetrack. This connection never occurred, probably because it would have required a number of expensive crossings over the steam railroad lines that traverse such an alignment. It was also hoped that the Metairie line would link up to the Canal and Esplanade lines which would have requires a major new drawbridge over the New Basin Canal, probably the reason it never happened.
