1951- DJ Alan Freed, working under the name ‘Moondog’ in Cleveland, launches his Moondog Rock n’ Roll Party on WJW. Freed’s promotional initiatives are a big reason the Rock n’ Roll Hall of Fame is located in the "mistake by the lake." 1959 - Richie Sambora, guitarist/songwriter with Bon Jovi, is born. 1965 - Weezer’s Scott Shriner enters the world. A native of Toledo, OH, he starts playing bass in high school. 1969 - Can you hear me Major Tom? David Bowie releases “Space Oddity.” It’s timed to coincide with the first moon landing. 1970- “Woodstock,” the soundtrack to the film about the historic music festival, tops the U.S. chart. It is the first triple-LP to do so. 1970- Three Dog Night’s version of Randy Newman’s "Mama Told Me (Not To Come)" is the #1 song in the U.S. for the first of two weeks. The Who unleash the definitive Hard Rock version of “Summertime Blues.” 1970 1974 - The Grateful Dead earn gold records for “Workingman’s Dead” and “American Beauty” LPs. 2006- Foo Fighters launch their first-ever acoustic tour. The six week jaunt starts in Seattle and includes original Foo Fighters guitarist Pat Smear. The tour results in the live "Skin & Bones" LP.
