1960- Guitarist Kim Thayil sees his first light of day in Seattle. He starts Soundgarden with Chris Cornell and Hiro Yamamoto in ‘84. 1964 - The Animals make their U.S. concert debut in Brooklyn, NY. 1965- Top of the charts. The Beatles’ “Help!,” the title track from their second film, is #1 on the Billboard singles chart. Bob Dylan’s “Like A Rolling Stone” is next. 1965 - The Who’s equipment truck is stolen while a guard dog is being purchased. 1968 - The Rolling Stones’ “Street Fighting Man” is banned in some U.S. cities, including Chicago, out of fears it will incite a riot. 1970 - George Harrison releases “My Sweet Lord.” It turns out the song is too close to the Chiffon’s “He’s So Fine.” A costly error for Harrison but a big hit just the same. Also, The Rolling Stones add to their reputation as “The World’s Greatest Rock ‘n’ Roll Band” with the release of their live “Get Your Ya-Ya’s Out. 1971 - The Doors dark and brooding “Riders On The Storm” peaks at #14. It’s on the “L.A. Woman” album. “Fleetwood Mac” is the #1 album in the U.S. 1976 1976- Thin Lizzy’s "Jailbreak" gets as far as #18. The gold album contains the hit, "The Boys Are Back In Town." 1976 - Aerosmith’s “Rocks” LP goes gold but KISS takes a dive releasing the wimp ballad “Beth.”
