1974. This is From San Frans group called Malos fourth album Ascension. Lead guitarist and Carlos Santanas brother Jorge Santana plays a beautifully inspired solo that from what I have read was recorded in one take. Cant quite put my finger on it, but I find the chord progressions of this song interesting. Maybe my music majors can shed some light. I like what the horn section is doing at the 2:00 mark against the muted trumpet solo. Also at the 5:00 mark Jorge almost plays a reggae groove, but he doesnt. Wish that had happened. Yes, one may compare to Chicago, B,S, & T, Tower of Power, E,W, & F, Santana, and maybe even Ides of March, but in my opinion Malo is well Malo.
