He’s from Blackheath, England. 1955 - Guitarist-songwriter, Matthias Jabs (The Scorpions), is born. 1962 - Red Hot Chili Peppers drummer Chad Smith (Chadwick Gaylord Smith) starts his life. 1963 - The British music industry claims The Beatles’ “She Loves You” is the most broadcast song of the year. 1964 - The Rolling Stones perform for the first time on CBS-TV’s The Ed Sullivan Show. Its a a riotous debut. Following the appearance, Sullivan vows to never have the group on the show again. “It took me 17 years to build this show,” he says. “I’m not going to have it destroyed in a matter of weeks.” Of course, Sullivan relents. 1969 - Favored by serious fans, Pink Floyd’s “Ummagumma” is in stores. 1970 - Ed Robertson (Barenaked Ladies) has a birthday.
