1986. I was a bartender in Springfield, OH. 23. Had no future. None. I almost flunked out of high school. I was bartending at a bar in Springfield, OH. Bartending was a GREAT job for me. I had a friend who was going to OSU at the time, Brad, and he was sharing an apartment with some dude, but they werent using the apartment over the summer. He agreed to sub-let it to me for a huge discount (just pay the actual rent), for two months. I agreed. Met Beth Bennett. She was the blonde at the end of the bar. I asked her if shed like to go out, on a date. She said YES! I was very charming. Very charming. We had several dates. I was stupid then, and stupid now, our first date was at Taco Bell(!), after I shut the bar down. And I had a dream. I was going to move to Columbus, OH and apply to go to THE Ohio State University as a Journalism student. I decided I was going to give everything else up and move to Columbus. No job, no prospects there (I figured I could get a bartending job, HOPEFULLY). I asked Beth if shed like to come with me. She said yes. Didnt hesitate. Didnt hesitate. There is a reason why I love this song so much. Met a girl and we had a few drinks and I told her what Id decided to do She looked out the window a long long moment then she looked into my eyes She didnt have to say a thing, I knew what she was thinkin Roll, roll me away, wont you roll me away tonight I too am lost, I feel double-crossed and Im sick of whats wrong and whats right We never even said a word, we just walked out and got on that bike And we rolled And we rolled clean out of sight https://youtube/watch?v=TEBwq4A1wsU
