1988 TAMPA BAY LIFE MAGAZINE My neighbor, Betty Hayden, and I - TopicsExpress

1988 TAMPA BAY LIFE MAGAZINE My neighbor, Betty Hayden, and I decided to attend a seminar on osteoporosis given by a gynecologist in Tampa, FL. We were seated in the middle of the audience when a familiar color photo appeared in his slide show. He had taken this picture from the July-August 1988 issue of Tampa Bay Life magazine to use as an example for staying in shape at age 50. My neighbor jumped up and pointing down at me she announced, “That’s HER”. It was obvious that this doctor was embarrassed for using it without permission. After the presentation, I went up to him to tell him that wasn’t a problem. He invited me to come by his office. I assumed he wanted to quiz me on how I stayed in shape. So I made an appointment. I was totally shocked that was not his intention. He wanted to make a house call, and come to my home. I DON’T THINK SO! I had several photo shoots with my friend, Victor Giordano. He shot many rolls of film in different outfits. When a Facebook Friend admired my purple bathing suit that was often used by my models, in my own photo shoots for bodybuilding magazine covers, I told her there was a story to tell. I only came across these 4 slides on my computer but I do have all the original slides from Victor’s shoots. (Looking back now, I suppose it wasn’t that common to see a 51-year old grandmother of 10 in such an outfit!) The women today are in much better condition than they were 26 years ago, as was evident at the GORGO CAMP I attended this year in Kentucky.
