1Cr 12:12 ¶ For as the body is one, and hath many members, and all the members of that one body, being many, are one body: so also is Christ. 1. Reminds me of my body. My head is the coordinator, directs all the movement, and coordinates vision, hearing, touch, motion, speaking, smell, and thought. My hands, lift and move stuff, my feet enable me to walk, my lungs give me breath, and my heart pumps all the air and nutrients to everywhere. Even though I have various members they all work together to get me there; adding up all the parts there are a lot to keep me functioning. The most important part is the brain, Jesus, who keeps the rest of the body the church in tune to success. The church has many members, parts, that keep it functioning. The pastor is like the heart, and lungs, and nervous system taking messages to the flock, the body, the food, the bread of life, and the most important element the air the Word of God. 1Cr 12:13 For by one Spirit are we all baptized into one body, whetherwe be Jews or Gentiles, whether we be bond or free; and have been all made to drink into one Spirit. 2. By the Spirit, the Holy Ghost, we are baptised, in other words born of the Spirit, into his body, all of us as one together.. We have been by water baptism, born of the water, have been made to drink , born of the Spirit into his spiritual body. 1Cr 12:14 For the body is not one member, but many. 3. As with our bodies we have many parts, members, but are fit together into one body so as to be able to function. 1Cr 12:15 If the foot shall say, Because I am not the hand, I am not of the body; is it therefore not of the body? 1Cr 12:16 And if the ear shall say, Because I am not the eye, I am not of the body; is it therefore not of the body? 1Cr 12:17 If the whole body were an eye, where were the hearing? If the whole were hearing, where were the smelling? 1Cr 12:18 But now hath God set the members every one of them in the body, as it hath pleased him. 4. God, as it pleases him, places us where he wants us in his body and he as the head coordinates our lives as one. 1Cr 12:19 And if they were all one member, where were the body? 1Cr 12:20 But now are they many members, yet but one body. 1Cr 12:21 And the eye cannot say unto the hand, I have no need of thee: nor again the head to the feet, I have no need of you. 5. We need everyone in the church. 1Cr 12:22 Nay, much more those members of the body, which seem to be more feeble, are necessary: 1Cr 12:23 And those members of the body, which we think to be less honourable, upon these we bestow more abundant honour; and our uncomely parts have more abundant comeliness 6. Uncomely: deformed. Comeliness:: modest. Our weaker members in our opinion need to be recognized as essential; thereby we become modest, or elegant as a body of believers. 1Cr 12:24 For our comely parts have no need: but God hath tempered the body together, having given more abundant honour to that part which lacked: 7. God has put the body together , strengthening all so that none lack his blessings. 1Cr 12:25 That there should be no schism in the body; but that the members should have the same care one for another. 8. Schism is division. The church needs to care for each member equally. God is not a respecter of persons. unequal care leads to division. The jewish nation values every member as their brother and sister. The loss of one brings pain to all. 1Cr 12:26 And whether one member suffer, all the members suffer with it; or one member be honoured, all the members rejoice with it. 1Cr 12:27 Now ye are the body of Christ, and members in particular 9 Spiritually we are the body of Christ. 1Cr 12:28 And God hath set some in the church, first apostles, secondarily prophets, thirdly teachers, after that miracles, then gifts of healings, helps, governments, diversities of tongues. 10. We all have differnt roles in the church, the body. 1Cr 12:29 Are all apostles? are all prophets? are all teachers? are all workers of miracles? 1Cr 12:30 Have all the gifts of healing? do all speak with tongues? do all interpret? 11. We are the body of Christ; your position is no more important than mine. We are all working together, for the common goal the salvation of mankind.
