1st Bangor OB 1 Abbey Villa 0. The local derby was decided by a stunning goal scored after 15 mins scored by Marty Robinson. The game started of at a frantic pace with the home team looking the sharper and stronger team. The goal came when Villa failed to clear the ball from the right side if the 18 yard box, before it fell to Robinson about 20 yes from goal in a central area. He caught it sweetly on the volley sending a dipping shot into the top corner giving Villa keeper no chance. Villa struggled to get a foothold in the game for most of the first half. The second half saw a reversal of the first with Villa dominating play and looking the better team. Several neat passing moves, whilst pinning Bangor back, failed to really threaten the goal Villa and their support were craving. As time wore on the game became more open and indeed fractious with Bangor picking up several yellow cards. Whilst Villa enjoyed the lions share of possession Bangor still looked dangerous on the break, indeed on one such break another great effort thundered off the Villa crossbar. Alas Villa never got the equaliser as the ref blew the whistle to confirm 1st Bangor as the winners. Have to say that I thought Villa deserved better in the game, but great credit to both sides who put in a really watchable game and if we had to loose Im comforted by the fact it was such a great goal scored by Young Marty Rob!
