1st Belfast Battalion (YCV) Volunteer Sam Rockett Murdered, 23rd August 2000 Volunteer Sam Rockett was only twenty-two years old, when he was murdered by cowards and liars. As the so-called Loyalist fead raged, members of the UDA gave Sam the assurance that he would be safe to visit his patner and thier baby in the Oldpark area of North Belfast. Naively takin the word of these rogues, Sam paid a visit to see his family, only to be met by a UFF murder gang, who brutally killed him in front of his patner and thier two year old daughter! Sam hailed from a strong family of Loyalists..... a family that has been torn to shreds since this awful slaying took place. He was an unassuming, trusting and affectionate lad, who totally doted upon his young daughter. Tragically, his trusting nature and the treachery of his assailants, robbed his family of a beloved son and brother..... and his baby daughter of a loving daddy. The circumstances of this murder will never be forgotten! He will be missed by one and all.
