1st Period Report: Hawks - 1 & Jets - 0 Thankfully, the Hawks of Tuesday were nowhere to be seen and I actually enjoyed this period of hockey. The Jets are always a fun opponent to play. Next period should get interesting. The Hawks offense has been completely dominating the game and utterly controlling the puck, even outshooting (12-2) the Jets convincingly. They had so many close calls and it was only through the grace of the unusually-stellar playing of the Jets goalie that the score isnt higher. The power play unit also performed well, particularly with the lone goal, scored by Kane, while the Jets Kane was sitting in the penalty box after a dirty trip on Saad. But overall, they were playing excellent hockey. A final note, Hossa is back, but Bickell is going to be out for weeks with a knee problem. Defense wise, the Hawks similarly performed very well. Crawford didnt have much action to occupy his time, though he did have a nice diving poke save early on that probably saved a goal, but when the opportunities arose, he acquitted himself well. The rest of the defense also did a pretty good job, though there were a few bad giveaways in their own zone, but thankfully nothing came of them and the Hawks recovered their equalibrium. Keys to the Game: The Hawks offense just needs to keep on doing what they have been doing. I would also suggest alternating between taking the puck to the net and taking shots from further on out, keep them guessing. The Hawks defense similarly must have repeat performance of the previous period. This game is the Hawks to win. In Coach Q We Trust. GO HAWKS!!!
