1st day back, year 3 LAUSD pilot school. after 20 years of teaching i know its impossible to accurately assess how the new school year is going to go (after only one day) and even with our huge computer problems that are driving us crazy Im very hopeful that that our school is going to start to realize the fruits of the best and hardest working teachers i have ever worked with. the last two years have been really tough but i always said to myself and anybody within earshot that opening a new school is like trying to build a plane while flying it, but by the end of the 3rd year this should be a place where I would want to work everyday. i think Im still pretty realistic but so many things seemed easier today and even though 2/3 of my band kids arent even scheduled in my classes Im pretty sure its all going to work out. (probably too optimistic for my own good) year 1-2 crazy time (yep) year 3 a job i want to come back to (in progress) year 5 a job any great teacher would be proud to work at (we still have some heavy lifting to do)
