2.18 It was a bit windy the day we left Barstow and the sagebrush - TopicsExpress

2.18 It was a bit windy the day we left Barstow and the sagebrush rolled lazily across the highway. We were heading toward some tall mountains in the distance, the San Bernadino mountains. As we headed over the pass on Route 66 the wind picked up and it pushed us along. Apparently these were the Santa Ana winds, a strong dry wind that periodically comes in from the desert. And it was quite strong that day, detached highway signs and tree limbs were blowing across the road. A couple of gusts threatened to push the car off the road, but eventually we could see the entire L.A. basin out our windshield and our worries about the wind disappeared. At least mine did, Chris was driving and Im sure he was definitely worried about those detached street signs. We drove through L.A. proper and past the Hollywood sign. Chris had been there before but to me it was all new and exciting. I probably ooohed and aaahed a lot. We stopped somewhere in the Valley so Chris could take a look at a map to determine how we could get to the coast. Of course Chris would choose the squiggliest line in the whole damn atlas.
