2.8 MILLION VISITORS MAINTAINED THE GROWTH MOMENTUM FOR 2013 (JAN-JULY 2013) Visitor arrivals for January to July 2013 posted an increase of 11.05% from 2.5 million visitors recorded last year for the same period to 2,798,881. This feat maintained the growth momentum recorded in the first half of the year. Arrivals in July totaled to 418,288 the second highest record during the year, and the first for the said month over the past years. Korea continued to top the ranking with 706,998 visitors (+22.30%) for a share of 25.26% to the total visitors. This market is keeping pace with a stable growth towards likely achieving the target for the year. Despite posting the least fraction of visitor arrival growth, the USA (+2.72%) still remained as the 2nd largest source by providing 417,904, for 14.93% share of the over-all inbound traffic. China rose to 3rd place, overtaking Japan by contributing 246,967 visitors for 8.82% share of the total. The Chinese market also recorded the strongest growth among the top markets at 48.58%. In July alone, this market posted 209% vis-a-vis the previous year. Japan in the 4th rank had 245,817 visitors. The 5th major visitor market was Australia with 118,186 arrivals for a share of 4.22%. This market continued to demonstrate double-digit growth. In addition, the following markets showed significant gains: Russian Federation (+34.36%) with 20,402 arrivals, Indonesia (+26.70%) with 26,233 arrivals, Saudi Arabia (+23.24%) with 20,034 arrivals, France (+19.95%) with 24,617 arrivals, Thailand (+18.07%) with 28,351 arrivals, and India (+17.07%) with 32,003 arrivals.
