2 CORINTHIANS Chap. 11 cont. – TERESA’S EASY RENDITION 16 Yet I say, don’t think I’m a fool. But if that’s what you think, then accept me as I am. At least, I could do some boasting. 17 What I say, I say, not after the Lord’s example, but as a fool, for being overconfident or for being boastful. 18 Since many are boasting according to the flesh, I too will boast. 19 For although you’re wise, you gladly tolerate fools! 20 In fact, you tolerate anyone who enslaves you, anyone who exploits you, anyone who grabs what’s yours, anyone who belittles you, or anyone who slaps your face. 21 I say this to our shame, as though we were too weak. Now if there’s anyone who dares to boast --- I’m talking like a fool --- I also dare to boast. 22 Are they Hebrews? So am I. Are they Israelites? So am I. Are they Abraham’s descendants? So am I. 23 Are they servants of Christ? I speak like I’m crazy, I’m better than them. Works? I have more. Imprisonments? I have more. Blows? Over. Near-deaths? Often. 24 Five times I’ve been flogged by Jews, each with 40 strokes less one. 25 Three times I was beaten with rod, once I was stoned, 3 times I was shipwrecked, spending night and day in the open sea. 26 Often in journeys, I was in danger of waters, in danger of robbers, in danger of my countrymen, in danger of Gentiles, in danger at the cities, in danger at the deserts, in dangers at the seas, in dangers of false brothers, 27 often in labor and in toil, in sleepless nights, in hunger and thirst, in fasting, in cold and nakedness. 28 Aside from things of physical, I face daily the pressure of my concern for all the congregations. 29 When one is weak, am I not? When one stumbles, am I not upset? 30 Should I boast, I’ll boast of the things that show my weakness. 31 The God and Father of Lord Jesus, the One who is to be praised forever, knows I’m not lying. 32 (When I was) In Damascus, the governor under King Aretas, who protects the city, arrested me. 33 But I was let down in a basket through a window in the wall, and I escaped from his hands.
