2 Corinthians 2:9-10 9 But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.”Therefore I will boast all the more gladly of my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ may rest upon me. 10 For the sake of Christ, then, I am content with weaknesses, insults, hardships, persecutions, and calamities. For when I am weak, then I am strong. The Apostle Paul is truly one of the spiritual giants of the New Testament. The true depth of his spiritual maturity and wisdom is reveled in this passage above. God had clearly given Paul powerful spiritual gifts. He was a great teacher, preacher, and was used by God to pen most of the New Testament. Paul’s greatness however, was not found in what he had….but what he lacked. Paul realized that all of his gifts were from God and there effectiveness was supplied by God. Paul understood that his own fleshly efforts can actually inhibited his ability to display Gods power. When he was at the end of his abilities, when he was utterly exhausted, beaten, and discouraged then He would fully rely upon God and the power of the Holy Spirit to do the work of the Lord. This past Sunday I was feeling exhausted from a really busy week and physically “off” from fasting coffee. To be honest, I did not feel like leading worship. During our group prayer time fifteen right before the first service, I cried out to God and confessed that I was feeling empty and unable to lead. At that moment I felt God’s Spirit strengthen me. It was like the feeling you get when you chug a tall glass of cold orange juice after you get out of bed. I sense God saying to me “don’t worry I’ve got this…I’ve always got this.” Worship that had a special anointing and it seemed like everyone was going deep. It left me asking the question, why does it always seem like God does the greatest works through me when I am feeling my worst. For when I am week, then I am strong As we are going through the Daniel fast and we are feeling week from this altered diet, remember that God’s power is made perfect in our weakness. Let the Lord be your strength and you will begin to see God doing the miraculous through you! -Gregory Butler #iholdthekeys
