2 Corinthians 5:20 Now then, we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God were pleading through us: we implore you on Christ’s behalf, be reconciled to God. The only way I can execute this scripture is as a broken man with broken ideas and incomplete understanding who has encountered a Savior, seen Him for what He is, and desired Him in a way that says within myself I have nothing to offer but within Jesus I need offer nothing. It is not what I can bring to Him but what I need from Him. He is my source of satisfaction, not in a way that compliments my wrong ideas and wounded thinking or morally props me up to look down my nose at others I deem sinners. But in a way that recognizes that before Jesus I was dead and within myself I dont have the ability to make myself alive. Before Christ there is nothing good in me because within myself the ability to be good does not exist. It isnt until a spiritually dead man receives life that he knew he was dead in the first place. If I am an ambassador for Christ do people see Him in me or do they see me representing myself in His name? Is God pleading through me? Am I living in such a way that compels others to Christ to the point of being reconciled to Him? Or am I pleading my judgement of others on my behalf in a way that confirms what others already think they know about my religion. I was reconciled to God because the reality of my sin collided with the truth of the Gospel of Jesus Christ, and that Truth was girded by the revelation of the perfect Love He has for me that Leeds me to repentance. Jesus did not condemn or hate me into a relationship with Him but so often I feel like Christians, ambassadors for God, try to condemn and judge people unto salvation. Sin needs no secondary condemner, it is by its nature condemning. So as an ambassador for Christ I dont need to point out sin in others but rather live in a way that makes much of Christ in me.
