2 Day Inclusive Dance Practice Workshop When: April 7th and 8th (participants attend both days) Time: 10am – 4.30pm Where: The Theatre Dance Studios, Halliwell Business Park, Rossini Street, Halliwell, Bolton, BL1 8DL Cost: Free To book: Call Dance Manchester on 0161 232 7179 or email [email protected] Workshop content Inspiring and informative workshop delivered by Rachel Liggitt – an ‘absolute must’ for all dance practitioners. The 2 day workshop will combine theoretical perspectives and practical explorations. Attendees will be invited to be active agents in the workshop, participating in small and large group discussions, practical tasks and explorations, to include reflective practice. The workshop will be inspiring, motivational in nature and highly reflective for all who attend. The aim will be to create a safe, supportive and challenging environment allowing for enquiry and open dialogue. Delivery of the session will be carefully structured and facilitated reaching all attendees by utilizing a range of approaches. The workshop will include: Introduction to the language of inclusion. Presenting practical ways to create an environment where individual learning can prosper. Insight into working with sensory, physical and learning disabled participants. Lots of dancing and moving and trying out dance ideas A shopping trolley of inclusive dance ideas, tasks and games to explore and take away. A break down of good inclusive dance practice, exploration of processes and techniques. Class structure Resources Strategies to support individualised learning Identifying core principles of identified technique Setting and monitoring goals Reflecting upon our practice and moving forward…. Rachel Liggitt Biography Rachel is a dance artist, educator and coach who has and continues to work with a wide range of individuals and organisations within cultural, education and higher education sectors throughout the UK. She was a Dance Fellow at Leeds University for 5 years, Independent dance artist for 7 years – performer and community dance practitioner . Rachel has held dance artist in residence positions at Bretton Hall College – University of Leeds, Beaumont College, Lancaster and NHS Primary Care Trust, Hull. Rachel worked as Education and Training Coordinator at Blue Eyed Soul Dance Company for just short of 7 years managing a rich and extensive range of inclusive dance activities from weekly classes, professional training to large scale intergenerational performances.
