2 Important Notices: (Absence Minutes and the TOEFL test & Change of Majors Update) # 1 – Absent Minutes: Some of you had asked me about the possibility of being excused from your class so that you do not go over the absence minutes limit. I asked all the AECP leadership about this situation, and unfortunately, AECP cannot change its policy. The minutes that you miss while taking the TOEFL test will count. We understand that this may cause some of you to absence fail that course, but the answer I received from the AECP leadership was that this is the reason AECP provide 600 minutes for Core class and 300 for electives. Things happen and you might have missed too many minutes but this policy is not going to change. Please go to the TOEFL as scheduled and if you do end up absence failing the course, I will let IIE know why you absence failed that course. (Please continue to go to the classes after the test) # 2- Change of Major Update from ASU Admissions: - ASU and IIE are very strict about major changes. ASU will not look at any requests on the possibility of you changing majors until after the TOEFL results are reviewed on December 1st. - IIE and ASU will not allow students to change majors to meet lower TOEFL requirements in other colleges within the university. - You will be able to take major-related coursework without having to change their major at ASU. (For example, mechanical engineering students will be take some courses in electrical engineering) - Students are not able to change majors because they would like to study something different from their major in Brazil. - Students who are interested in ASU Poly majors: We were recently advised that the ASU Poly campus is NOT accepting new students for their majors for the Spring of 2015. Students who were interested in ASU Poly majors such as Electronics; ASU encourages you to look at the major you are currently enrolled in and see how the course offerings in that major and plan on enrolling on those courses. Remember you will be able to take courses within various branches of the same field. (See 3rd bullet point)
