2 LANCS MEDAL PARADE 29 NOVEMBER 2013 WEETON BARRACKS Here is an extract from the letter you should already have received from your soldier, This contains all the details for the Medal Parade taking place at Weeton Barracks on 29 November 2013. All further information should be directed to your soldier, in addition he/she should have your car passes, maps and tickets. *Dear all, The Commanding Officer, Lieutenant Colonel N Unsworth, warmly invites you to attend the presentation of Operational Medals at Weeton Barracks on Friday 29 November 2013. The parade will commence at approx 1040 hrs on the Parade Square at Weeton Barracks, Weeton. You are asked to arrive between 0930 and 1000 hrs. The Parade will take place on the Main Parade Square at approx 1040 hrs. A map showing the location of the Barracks is attached for your convenience. Visitors to the parade are asked to car share where possible to help reduce the number of vehicles on the day. The Parade will last approx 90 minutes. You are to follow signs and park in car park A, Please bring photo ID. The pass needs to be visible in order to direct you to the correct location, failure to display may result in you being parked in the wrong location. If you are a disabled badge holder then please display your badge and move to the main guardroom. The Parade is due to last for approximately ninety minutes. All soldiers will return to the parade square to meet up with you, giving you an opportunity for a photo whilst still in uniform. There after your soldier will escort you to the gymnasium where you can enjoy some food and learn more about what the Battalion did whilst deployed. Security fencing and a guard force protect the camp. Please be aware that due to security measures those guests not listed, will not be allowed access to the Barracks. A check upon arrival will be conducted and you may be subject to a routine security search. Due to the large numbers attending, we must limit each Soldier to a maximum of three (3) guests for feeding purposes only, however each soldier may invite as many family members as he likes but only 3 will be catered for. Food is available for purchase on the day. I’m afraid the parade is outside and there is no alternative location. In the event of wet weather or snow, the parade will continue, though may be cut short so please ensure you dress appropriately, and do consider the Lancashire weather (umbrellas, warm clothing etc). We look forward to seeing you at the Parade.
