2 Pe. 1:19 We have also a more sure word of prophecy; whereunto ye do well that ye take heed, as unto a light that shineth in a dark place, until the day dawn, and the day star arise in your hearts: ~ Peter knew what it was to walk with the Son of God. He knew what it was to hear the audible voice of God speak from heaven and see Moses and Elijah come back from the dead to confirm and strengthen Jesus. What an incredible experience this must have been.! And yet years later he writes these words through the inspiration of the Holy Spirit. What he is saying is, the Word of God and the Holy Spirit are enough. You dont need to go to that mountain or have that experience to become a spiritual man or woman. If we listen to the Word and believe it and obey it that Day Star (Jesus) will arise in our hearts too! I love the simplicity in this! Through the years the church has moved away from this repeatedly. Weve had our eyes on experiences. Some have recommended we go to certain places to become spiritual. Others have become fixated on owning a piece of Jesus robe, or a piece of the cross or of the ark etc. I am so thankful for the simplicity in Christ. It makes Gods spiritual riches as available to the drug addict or the prison inmate or the persecuted Christian as to the rich and affluent. We can have as much of God as we want, no matter where we are or who we are or what we possess...when we seek Him with all our hearts. ~ 2Ti. 3:16-17 All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: That the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works. ~ We can go to the Bible and recommend it to others with absolute confidence! PTL!
