2 TRILLION BAHT YES that’s a lot of money. What would you do if you had 2 trillion baht? We don’t even know where to start… Well, while you ponder about how great life could be with 2 trillion baht let us tell you what happened. As of 2.50 am on Wednesday, the Senate approved a bill that allows the government to borrow 2 trillion baht. The usual practice for the government is submitting a fiscal budget for approval by the Senate and House of Reps. The fiscal budget is all the money the government needs to operate the country in the upcoming fiscal year i.e: paying civil servants, fixing roads, building new government buildings, and pay for all governmental functions. However, this 2 trillion bill is a stand alone bill and is an extension of the regular fiscal budget! So now.. why does the government want 2 trillion baht separately? Reminiscent of Thaksin’s “Mega Projects” the government plans to focus this money on improving Thailand’s transportation infrastructure . That is… if it all falls through… in a decades time we can travel to the North, South, and Northeast on high-speed trains!!! With all this spending, imagine the prosperity it’ll bring to the POLITI…. wait… we mean to the COUNTRY! haha. You’ll be able to satisfy your cravings for Khao Soy, Pla lar, and beautiful beaches with just the purchase of a train ticket! So, always keep this in the back of your head. By the time you have children, we will know who to ask or thank for our high-speed trains!
