2 Thessalonians 1:5 “All this is evidence that God’s judgment - TopicsExpress

2 Thessalonians 1:5 “All this is evidence that God’s judgment is right, and as a result you will be counted worthy of the kingdom of God, for which you are suffering.” Who among us is not experiencing trials and suffering? We all are…But have you really considered the blessing of trials and suffering? Paul wrote that he was able to boast about the believers in Thessalonica because of their FAITH and PERSEVERANCE amidst suffering (vs. 4). Then Paul says some things that are almost odd—“all of this is evidence that God’s judgment is right”. What does “all of this” refer to? What evidence is being referenced? When we display faith in God even though we suffer; when we persevere in Christ even though we suffer, we ourselves become evidence for the Master in Heaven. But what is this evidence of? It’s evidence of God’s judgment being right. Notice “judgment” is singular. Paul is speaking of final judgment here; not judgments that God makes daily. God is proved right in YOUR salvation when YOU display faith and perseverance in suffering. As a result of this judgment you will be counted worthy of God’s Kingdom. Note that the judgment already happened. You don’t gain entrance to the Kingdom because of your faith in suffering. You already gained it when you received Christ as Lord. However, your faith in suffering proves that what God judged upon you at that time is right. So, through your sufferings remember that you are proving God as right and just in His judgment of you and in His saving work at Calvary. In this way sufferings are a blessing… ~Matt
