2 big mining firms in Nueva Vizcaya get power boost BAYOMBONG, Nueva Vizcaya: The National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP) is installing an additional transformer in its substation in Barangay Busilac here to increase power to two large-scale mining firms in the province. Nelson Bautista, head of NGCP regional communications, said the Australian OceanaGold Philippines, Inc (OGPI) in Didipio, Kasibu town, and the British FCF Minerals Corporation (FCFMC) in Runruno, Quezon town, have applied for a direct line with NGCP. December 12, 2014 by LEANDER C. DOMINGO “We need the additional transformer to maintain power stability of our existing 40 mega volt ampere (MVA) in our Busilac substation,” Bautista said. He said the transformer will be a 75-MVA facility which will also reinforce the substation’s existing transformer once connection with the two mining companies is completed. The NGCP on Friday cut power from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m. to give way for the connection of FCFMC from the NGCP substation in Bayombong. Lilibeth Gaydowen, NGCP North Luzon corporate communications officer, said the FCFMC will still use minimal power “since our additional transformer is not yet in place. It will have its full power after the establishment of the additional transformer.”
