Shortly before 11 p.m. Tuesday, a 21-year-old man was wounded in the 8800 block of South Escanaba Avenue. The victim suffered a wound to his arm, police said. Moments later, another man, 23, was shot in the arm in the 2700 block of East 87th Street, police said. Both victims were taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital, where their conditions were stabilized, police said. Police had said earlier that the shootings were related and they were questioning someone after stopping a vehicle near the crime scene. The five people were charged early this morning. Christian Ortiz, 29, of the 2000 block of Rosehill Court in Romeoville, and Jesus Quintana Jr., 27, of the 10700 block of South Avenue M in Chicago, were charged with two counts each of aggravated battery/discharge of a firearm, police said. A 14-year-old boy from East Chicago, Ind., and two boys from Chicago, 15 and 16, were charged with one count each of aggravated battery/discharge of a firearm, police said. The names of the teens were not released because of their age. All three were turned over to the Juvenile Advocacy Unit for processing, police said.
