€2 million investment is to be made in the Galway Greenway from Galway city to Moycullen, it has been announced by Public Transport Minister Alan Kelly. The route will be 12.4 km long, will incorporate the grounds of NUIG, and will facilitate people who work in the city and many others who would like to cycle or walk between Moycullen and Galway. The funding for this phase of the Greenway is in addition to €403,000 which was allocated for the Oughterard to Clifden phase earlier this month. The announcement has been welcomed by Fine Gael Galway West TD Sean Kyne, who is calling on the Galway County Council to appoint consultants immediatley to prepare an Environmental Impact Statement. “It’s important that negotiations and consultation take place with landowners and residents along the route he said, some of whom have issues of privacy.
