2 youth arrested in Palhalan Pattan, Sep 9: Protests erupted in Palhalan area of North Kashmir’s Pattan town on Monday after police arrested two youth for their alleged involvement in stone pelting. Police sources said that on Sunday a group of youth appeared on highway to enforce shutdown in the area. These youth pelted stones and smashed the windowpanes of scores of vehicles, police said. Deputy Inspector General of Police, North Kashmir, J.P. Singh told CNS that three youth indulging in stone pelting were identified and two of them were arrested. “The third youth is on the run and we are going to book him soon,” he said. The two arrested youth have been identified as Showkat Ahmed Malik son of Ghulam Muhammad resident of Bhagat Mohalla Palhalan and Wasim Gul son of Muhammad Ashraf Nadaf resident of Shah Mohalla. “We have booked these youth vide FIR number 224/2013 under sections 148, 149, 332, 427 and 307 of RPC,” Singh said. The family members of the arrested youth said that police implicated their sons in false cases. “They are innocent and never indulged in stone pelting,” parents of one of the youth said.CNS
