20 Best Songs of 2014 16. Sun Kil Moon- Truck Driver Its hard to pick any one song off of Mark Kozelaks mesmerizing 6th album under the moniker Sun Kil Moon. Each is a haunting yet sublimely simple vignette about a small chapter in his life. The whole production would be grotesquely comical if it didn’t feel so unflinchingly, unapologetically sincere. When he sings Kentucky Fried Chicken was served after his uncles funeral, the words are gravity pulling us into the ballad as if we had just finished shoveling dirt onto his grave. I first heard Truck Driver and the album while I watched my kids running wild at the Disney of indoor water parks in the Wisconsin Dells. Maybe the Bose noise cancelling headphones are partly to credit, but as Kozelak picked up his guitar to sing for the guests of the funeral, I was right there...hearing the frogs croak and praying with the mantises. youtube/watch?v=INnstYCNIQc
