Text2Teach is the Philippine pilot-version of the global mobile learning programme Bridge IT, launched in 2003. The project provides selected schools with an ICT package that permits teachers to screen videos which have been previously downloaded on a mobile phone. The solidity of the public-private partnerships, close cooperation with local decision-makers and the easy to use technologies have contributed to the overall positive impacts of the project as for example lower drop-out and absenteeism rates, improved performances at national assessments and increased motivation. Albeit not focusing exclusively on rural areas, Text2Teach manages to support rural schools in an efficient and sustainable manner.
