The bottom pin with the + symbol needs to be connected to +12v (positive). The other bottom pin is connected to the accessory and is the switched pin sending +12v from the + pin to the accessory when switch is operated. The horizontal side pin with the earth symbol needs to be earthed to -12v (negative) for the led to operate. If you connect the + pin to +12v and the side earth pin to -12v the led will light when switch is operated. As the led is a diode it will only work when current is correctly connected.
