20% of the total agricultural production of Palestine comes from olive trees. Olive trees occupy approximately 50% of the cultivated land in the West Bank, with around ten million trees surrounding West Bank cities. Olives provide the main source of income for 10,000 Palestinian families, producing about 153,000 tons, at a productivity rate of up to 174 kilograms per 1000 sq m.
