20 years ago no one would have expected that the most valuable cars of the T-Series range would be the TF 1500. Built from 1954 through 1955 as an interim solution until the arrival of the modern MGA, the TF was the most unloved of the square-rigged Abingdon cars. Their drivability (especially in 1500 form) has no doubt contributed to their appreciation as has their utility for a multitude of driving events. This pair of TF cars sold at auction exhibits nicely the ascent of these cars into the upper echelon of the MG market. The first, a 1954 TF (XPAGTF32066) was reportedly professionally restored (there were a few rough spots) but was single-family owned since the 1970s and wore California black plates. A good 3+/2- car that brought $23,500. The second, was a 1954 1500(HSA467088) that was also subject to a recent restoration (to a higher standard than the earlier car) and was a fine example of the breed. Sold at $30,000 (inclusive of premium).
