2000ad Prog 1883 REVIEW. In Orbit Every Wednesday. New Dredd thriller Traumatown begins this prog and it gets off to a fantastic start. Nick Percival hasnt been in these pages since 1995s Goodnight Kiss, and its great to see his awesome art back. Its bold, striking and Ol Stoney Face has never looked so good. The grim and grime of Mega-City One is lovingly realised too. Michael Carroll gives us an intriguing script, and, without spoiling it too much, its basically saying why Dredd is not the man he once was and he could be losing his mind. Cant wait to see where this thriller goes in the next few weeks. Slaines A Simple Killing is coming along nicely, although theres not been much in the way of epic battles - it looks like they are saving that for next week. Sinead isnt having the best of times, being tortured by Slough Gododin and his minions. They dont treat her well but I have a feeling she has a few tricks up her sleeve to save herself. Poor Slaine though, as he has now bigger terrors to face than that one Colossus from last week... Indigo Prime continues its rollicking good tale, with Danny and Unthur helping Schroeder live his last few days in style. Danny takes him to a place called Transhumanfest: The Party At The End Of Time. That two page spread is a mixture of Doctor Who, Terry Pratchett, Neil Gaiman and Douglas Adams all rolled into one, and there is so much to see and smile at on one page. Lee Carter has outdone himself here - and this should take the old timers mind off his dislike for his cloned daughter. It all seems to be going well - but they dont realise that Estevez and Huxley have other plans for them. Then Danny has a go and make a mess at the end... Looking forward to where this series goes from here! In Seconds Flat is the start of a new Thargs 3Rillers. Its basically a clones story and what would happen if you had a time machine and created different versions of yourself. It kept me reading though and a great alien popped up nearer the end. I had a big smile on my face so its obviously doing something right. Be interesting to see where this one goes. Finally, I cannot tell you enough how much Ive enjoyed Outlier, and its such a shame it comes to a close this issue. its been one of the highlights for me of 2014 and I hope it returns soon. There are ramifications for everyone: Ramona, Carcer and Caul especially. Its been a thrill ride and full of twists and turns - one I cant wait to experience again in the near future! Also, dont forget the 2000ad Sci-FI special is out this week (the first since 1996) and is priced at £3.50. As soon as I get one I will do a review for that too, Earthlets!
