2008: This is me standing in my paternal family line homestead cemetery in Dripping Springs (Crawford County). The gray house in the background is where the log house sat. My ancestors once owned about a thousand acres here. This is located on Uniontown road on the left just after you round the curve from hwy 59 north of Van Buren. The earliest grave dates back to pre-civil war era. My GGGGrandparents are buried here and were among the first settlers in Crawford County. There was a small Civil War standoff that took place on this site with the house being right in the middle of the dividing line. This was right after the Battle at Prairie Grove when the Federals were heading south toward Van Buren. The standoff ended without firing a shot (I have the printed story on this incident). The homestead log house built in 1831 and in 1931 was dismantled and moved to Prairie Grove Battlefield Park and was reassembled as one of the structures on display there. The cemetery is now on private property and is being cared for by the current owners.
