2013-06-26 05:54:52 - Extreme Weather - US Area: USA, State of Vermont, Vermont-wide, Description: Vermont Emergency Management officials say another series of thunderstorms rolling across the state is knocking down trees and creating driving hazards when large volumes of water are turning into ponds on roadways. Vermont State Police say the rain and roadside flooding undermined part of Interstate 89 south in Williston and deposited large amounts of rocks and gravel on the roadway. VTrans planned to repair the damaged road. Police say another road - Old Stage Road in Williston - is closed due to a sink hole. Green Mountain Power spokeswoman Dorothy Schnure says weather conditions on Tuesday night could cause significant outages. She says high winds, soggy ground and intense lightening could bring the threat of widespread outages over the next few days.
