2013 More misreporting by the regime masipolo media outlet Fiji Village. Note the heading is not supported by the contents of the news story: Govt to fund education for every child from next year Publish date/time: 08/10/2013 [08:07] Education Minister, Filipe Bole said the Government will fund education for every child from next year. When Fijivillage asked Permanent Secretary of Education Dr Brij Lal on the issue of state funding, he said this is a standard budget request put forth by the Ministry to Government. Lal said the terms of that funding will then be decided by Government and he will not be making any further comments. Meanwhile a major change will come into effect next year in our Education system where a 13 year Education system will be introduced starting from year 1 to year 13. This will mean that from next year we no longer will say class one, as it will be known as year one and so forth for other years of study. Primary school will include year one to eight while Secondary school will have year nine to thirteen. Bole said year nine to 11 are preparation years for external examinations taken in years 12 and 13. Bole said curriculum contents of some subjects have also been changed to include relevant and job related contents. This include syllabus for Year one to Year four which will mainly focus on numeracy and literacy. In addition to this, curriculum contents for subjects in Year 11 which include Economics, History and Physics, will also change. Story by: Dhanjay Deo
