2014-11-14 (FRI) Love of the world The Bible uses the word world in different ways – to refer to the people of the world, the things of the world and the values and ways of the world. We are called to love the people of the world, to be good stewards of the things of the world and to reject the values and ways of the world. Do not love the world or anything in the world. If anyone loves the world, love for the Father is not in them. 16 For everything in the world – the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life – comes not from the Father but from the world. 17 The world and its desires pass away, but whoever does the will of God lives for ever. – 1 John 2:15 (New International Version) Lord Jesus, we pray that by your Holy Spirit, we see the dangers of loving the ways and values of the world and in our day to day lives, we ask Lord that we live with a renewed mind and live according to your values and standards.
