2014 ABKC NATIONALS November 15th, 2014 Atlanta, Georgia This day we should all be proud as a community and registry which has always been diverse and versitile, welcoming people from different walks of life, race, cultures, countries, all coming together for one passion and love, the American Bully breed. In recent years the ABKC Community has grown into and international and Multi-Breed powerhouse that is unfortunately too often under attack with discrimination, allegations, and personally charged vendetta. Too often people in this community cast negativity on the registry turning even positive events into a negative light. The 2014 ABKC Nationals saw thousands of people and hundreds of dogs competing in a prestigious, top notch event which operated efficiently and virtually flawless. Truly an event for this community to be proud of. BUT.....as always individuals in this community instead of embracing the many positive aspects of this weekend such as the ones mentioned above, plus other facts and historic moments that entailed an International judge from Spain judging, the first ever female ABKC National Best of Breed winner, the first ever English Bulldog to win ABKC National Best In Show, a proud, skilled, and young Junior Handler wins a huge class of about 80 Champions, only after winning 2014 ABKC Nationals Best Junior. Forget all the positve moments...They would rather turn it into negativity and controversy. I never like to take an argumentative or harsh approach in addressing negative or controversy but in all honesty in this situation there just isnt any other way but to present the reality and truth without being a little offensive because the allegations themselves clearly stem from igorance or stupidity. Ignorance is not knowing the facts or being educated on a subject. But to accuse or discredit on the account of a topic you are ignorant about without taking the time to educate yourself first is plain out stupid. First....growth is always good for any business or any cause. Moving forward and becoming a Multi-Breed Registry illustrates growth. Second....Multi-Breed events provide equal opportunity for any of the breeds offered to win. Third....Multi-Breed events flow as follows: Each breed goes through the process to choose its respected Best of Breed, then each of the Best of Breed winners compete for Best In Show. Contrary to what some believe, each breed doesnt earn a Best in Show for there is only one Best In Show per show. Last....always so much talk about politics and preference yet voices have been heard saying it is a shame an alternate breed won Nationals. Would bypassing these breeds for the simple fact that the American Bully was the first registered breed in ABKC be fair? Any reason for choosing a dog in the show ring other than merit would be political. ABKC supporters or haters alike please take the time to educate yourselves and erase ignorance, for ignorance is the real plague in this community. When you choose to publically speak on social media, remember that you are projecting your views to a wide audience who is sure to figure that you are either brand new, ignorant, or plain out stupid. I leave you with another fact....a Shorty Bull won Best In Show at ABKC Nationals 2010 here in Atlanta at (if my memory serves me right) what was the first year any other breed was offered at an ABKC Nationals. KEEP IT POSITIVE.....POSITIVETY IS CONTAGEOUS, GET INFECTED!!!
