2014 Counseling Psychology Conference, March 14 - 16 Hotel Cut-Off Date and Early Registration Deadline is Friday, February 7. See the following update from the conference co-chairs below. To register or for more information, go to atlanta.2014. We have had amazing interest in this conference, and for good reason! There are workshops, symposia, poster sessions, invited addresses, a dance, a silent auction, and much time to spend with friends and colleagues. Nadine Kaslow will be kicking off the event with a presentation on counseling psychology’s role in the changing healthcare system. Many SCP past-presidents are presenting together and it would be a great way to get their thoughts on the past, present, and future of counseling psychology. Names like Horne, Krumboltz, Gadza, Forrest, Nutt, Heppner, Ivey, Parham, Illfelder-Kaye, and Chung. There will be a symposium on the history of the multicultural competencies from many who were involved in the earlier days of the movement (Norm Anderson, Nadya Fouad, and more). Don Bersoff and Steve Behnke will be presenting ethics-related issues including Protecting Victims of Violent Patients while Protecting Confidentiality, and Boundaries, Borders, and Multiplicities: Thinking about Ethics, Searching for the Right Questions. Both of these expect to be very informative. There are over 150 posters spread across conference times. Hundreds of students will be in attendance, and our ECPs are making a significant contribution to the conference. There are over 50 opportunities to get CE credits. The conference theme, Counseling Psychology in Action: Future Opportunities and Challenges, is threaded throughout the conference, especially when including the sub-themes of Training, Integrated Healthcare/Holistic health, Violence/Trauma, and Domestic and International Diversity. All in all, this promises to be an exciting conference where you can keep up with the latest trends, meet and see friends and colleagues, and enjoy Atlanta.
