2014 Desert Classic Concours dElegance Winners Announced • 1933 Packard 1005 Convertible Coupe owned by Aaron & Valerie Weiss of San Marino, CA, took the Best in Show Award, as well 2nd Place in the American Grand Classics / Pre War Class, at the 7th Annual Desert Classic Concours d’Elegance on Sunday, February 23rd, at the Desert Princess Country Club. • 1922 Duesenberg Model A Dual Cowl Pheaton owned by Ronald & Sandra Hansen of Fillmore, CA, was named the Peoples Choice, along with Runner-Up to the Best in Show; • 1930 Cadillac V-16 Model 452 Convertible owned by Frederick Lax of Malibu, CA, took 1st Place in the American Grand Classics/Pre War Class, as well as Runner-Up to the Peoples Choice; • 1959 Alfa Romeo Zagato owned by Roger Groves of Monarch Beach, CA, was named Most Significant Closed Car, as well as taking 1st Place in the Small European Sports/Post War Class; • 1963 Mercedes 300-SL owned by Garry Peters of Indian Wells, CA, was named Most Significant Open Car; and • 1967 NSU Spider owned by Michael & Barbara Malamut of Thousand Oaks, CA, was named Most Unusual Vehicle. This years Desert Classic Concours d’Elegance was the best ever. Not only was the weather perfect, but the crowds and caliber of cars entered in the Concours, as well as in the Car Club Corral, were second to none, said Paul Merrigan, Founder and Organizer. Everyone from our sponsors like the Desert Princess Homes at Desert Princess Country Club, Desert Princess Country Club, and Cuistot Restaurant, to our many volunteers, helped make it a success.
