2014. Did you have a good year? Most of us would say “no, it sucked”. Stands to reason that a lot of us have had a lot of changes happen over the last 12 months. And while they may not have been titanic changes, they probably were the small, intimate ones that alter our perceptions of the things we thought were always going to be there for us. Then the reality of change slapped us in the face. Truth be told, things could have been far worse, but the bitterness of what’s transpired has left us hurt, traumatized and lost in a myriad of ways. There WERE a lot of good things that happened last year for me, but just as many negative things tried to ruin those promising moments. I’ve learned a lot about not only myself, but the now new faces of challenges that stand in opposition to my ambitions, goals and happiness. 2014? I’m done with it. I’m over it. I’ll look back proudly and recognize the accomplishments and rewards that came with my hard work. But I’ll also be forever reminded of the failures, embarrassments and losses I encountered. Normally, I don’t engage in the tradition of having a new year resolution, and this year will be no exception, except whereas I’m putting 2015 on notice: This will be the year I will take no prisoners. If you try to counter my advancements, I’ll steam roll you. There’s no wall I won’t go around, climb, tunnel under, or crash through. I give you this message about myself in hopes that it will empower you if you’re struggling with a problem in your life. If you had a fantastic year and this one looks just as promising, I’m happy for you beyond words. You’ve hopefully worked hard for it and have earned it. For those of you that have had it rough, today is the first day of the rest of your year. And I’ve learned a new lesson when it comes to being happy: if you want it, if you NEED it, change your world.
